It's up to you not to heed the call-up
An' you must not act the way you were brought up
Who knows the reasons why you have grown up?
Who knows the plans or why they were drawn up?
It's up to you not to heed the call-up
I don't wanna die
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
I don't wanna kill
For he who will die
Is he who will kill
Maybe I wanna see the wheat fields
Over Kiev and down to the sea
It's up to you not to heed the call-up
I don't wanna die
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
I don't wanna kill
All the young people down the ages
They gladly marched off to die
Proud city fathers used to watch them
Tears in their eyes
It's up to you not to heed the call-up
I don't wanna die
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
I don't wanna kill
For he who will die
Is he who will kill
There is a rose that I want to live for
Although God knows, I may not have met her
There is a dance an' I should be with her
There is a town unlike any other
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
An' you must not act the way you were brought up
Who gives you work, why should you do it?
Fifty-five minutes past eleven
There is a rose
Hup 2 3 4, I am the Marine Corps
Hup 2 3 4, I am the Marine Corps
Hup 2 3 4, I am the Marine Corps, yeah
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
Don't wanna die, don't wanna die
There is a rose that I want to live for
It's up to you not to hear the call-up

SOS
This is an SOS from an American to other Americans. PLEASE call your Representatives to IMPEACH our president who is very quickly diving towards dictatorship. This is untenable, and only our irresponsibility with our own democratic powers is letting it happen. Please take up your powers as a citizen and influence your leaders to put a stop to the exponential increase of injustice in our nation. It may be the most important act of heroism you ever perform. Thanks, sincerely, --vikingjon
Thanks David Bowie
I remember my sister (RIP) sitting me down to listen to The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders from Mars. There are a few albums she did that with. Not just, "Hey, listen to this song," but "You HAVE to listen to this whole album! Sit down!" and she played me the vinyl records: The Beatles' Revolver, Jethro Tull's Aqualung, The Who's Quadrophenia. Ziggy was one of these. I was probably eleven or so, the year 1980, but I had heard many of David Bowie's songs and records through our older sister playing them: Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Hunky Dory. Space Oddity, Changes, Rebel Rebel, Jean Genie were all big on the radio as well
4:20am And Anxious
4:20am. It's almost time to take my meds so I'm anxious. The meds are for anxiety. I'm not anxious about them*, I'm anxious about everything else.
People tell me, "Why don't you worry about the whole world less and worry about yourself?" It's not a question, though, it's an admonishment, as if they know what it's like to feel the wings fall off a butterfly somewhere in Ethiopia, or another tree go groaning down in Madagascar, monkeys shrieking, as if they know what I know about... everything.
I AM worried about myself, and I DON'T know everything, and I know I'm going to run out of time before I win the war on ignorance. It sounds arrog
'You're Still Alive,' She Said.
"Well, I'm back," he said.
--Sam Gamgee, last words of J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of The Rings'.
I'm glad to be back among the living! Touch and go for a bit there. I came down ill in October and in spite of my best efforts I couldn't recuperate on my own. I spent six weeks writhing in bed, then spent a week in hospital in November, where there was talk of organ transplants and dialysis. Scans showed possible cancer, then didn't. I just needed time and TLC, though, which I got from the caring staff, my family, my friends who called to check on me regularly, and a beautiful view from my windows. I missed Thanksgiving with the family, and w
